First Prize Filly (Name Pending) Private Treaty
This large filly, born on Mother's Day 2007, is simply adorable!
She is a Chestnut and White paint, and has a 50% chance of carrying the silver dapple gene which she would have inherited from her first prize, 14 hand sire, Pa fra Laugarvatni. Thus, if she were bred in the future, not only will she be able to throw paints, but she may also produce colors such as silver dapple paint, silver bay paint, etc...
Her owner says this about her:
"I have been impressed w/how well she has grown and how smart she is. She loves people, and thinks everyone who comes to the barn is there to see her. She is getting leading down pretty good - balks some times, but if you give her a few seconds to look at things and figure them out, she will eventually follow. She did well on her last trimming, other than still trying to figure out how to stand on three legs - she was really good. She hasn't been in the trailer yet, but we got her up looking at it just this Monday. She has had her first bath and did OK w/that. Loves to be groomed and messed w/and was a breeze to give her first worming to. She has been raised around ATV's, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, cows, and of course the other horses. She has shown no fear response to any of it. I have caught her tolting in the field a couple of times. She is a strong, solidly built filly so I feel I can start the weaning process any time now."
Her temperament should be very mellow, like both of her parents. Her Tolt should be wonderful. Her sire and dam are shown below:
Her sire is the legendary Pa fra Laugarvatni, the First Prize, 14 hand Silver Dapple Bay stallion who used to be owned by Dan Slott of Mill Farm. Click Here to see more info on Pa. He was featured in the film produced by Icelandic Sports, Inc, being ridden by Dan, himself. Dan mentioned that he became more invoved with importing stock, than with breeding. Therefore his stallions didn't produce very many offspring while in his care. Thus, Pa has produced very few foals here in the US and is just now getting back into the breeding scene at 23 years old. Thus this sweet girl is one of only a few of Pa's offspring in the US.
Her Dam is Saegola fra Pegasus (Kaiani), a large, stocky Chestnut paint mare. She has an exceptionally mellow for this breed, making her an excellent choice for timid or beginning riders. This filly should be the same.
